Wealth of Podcasts

podcasts, software development

I remember searching hard for good technical podcasts about a year ago. There were really just a few at that point like Drunk and Retired, ZDot, and the Polymorphic Podcast. Today there’s a wealth of them. Just following a blog link I noticed NetObjectives has a Lean Agile Straight Talk podcast.

All this means is I have about 48 hours of backlog right on the old iPod and I can afford to be picky. A lot of podcasts I would have listened to on IT Conversations now don’t even warrant a download.

    Hey Ed,

Sure I’ve got something to say. Actually, it would be more accurate to say that I’ve got something to ask: So given that you listened to Drunk and Retired when there weren’t many other options, what priority does it occupy now when you’ve got that 48 hour backlog? I’m constantly looking for ways to improve our show, and what I’d really like to know is “are we still better than half the stuff out there?” If not, what’re the top three things that we can do to improve our listener experience.

    Cheers,
    Charles

I’m glad to say Drunk and Retired is still near the top of the heap for podcasts, and I’ve turned at least one fellow developer into a devoted listener. In the 48 hr backlog I kept all the episodes for Drunk and Retired, Java Posse, and Manager Tools.

OK, a bit of a challenge, hmm top 3 things:

    - Don’t mix in the Redmonk Radio stuff. I didn’t find that worked to well.
    - Possibly mix in a few interviews.
    - OK, I can’t come up with a third.
