Iteration Zero Team Charter
Simon Baker has a very good example of a team charter for an Agile project developed in Iteration Zero. It spells out how the team will do estimating, track progress, do TDD, implement continuous integration, and coding standards. This is the sort of example based template you can take and show your own team as a starting point. And apparently Simon also has very good whiteboard skills as evidenced by some of the pictures of his chartering mind maps.
Hi Ed,
Thanks for posting about my project charter. Good idea about using it as an example-based template. I’d like to point out to anyone using it as a template that there are some missing sections in the example, namely Project Vision, Project Value, Project Community, Project Assumptions and Constraints, and Team Measures of Success. I had to trim these out due to client confidentiality but I do talk generally about them at the beginning of my post.

I understand leaving out the other typical project charter stuff. That’s still important, but I like to think of it as the PMI style project charter. We have those right now, but adding your ideas would really make it a more valuable document/exercise.
